Vacation at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida

This is me in late September 2008 at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. I was there for a total of 7 days, and I loved it. Here I'm posing in front of the replica of the famous Grauman's Chinese Theater, which at this theme park houses "The Great Movie Ride".

Who's Coming On "Ugly Betty"?

I was watching the news for a bit this evening, and they said that some troubled star was about to go on my favorite show, "Ugly Betty", but I didn't hear who it's going to be. Is it Britney Spears? Is it Lindsay Lohan? Is it Nick Nolte? Amy Winehouse? Mel Gibson? (no, I doubt him). Naomi Campbell? Aha! That must be it! Now I remember Vanessa Williams saying on Jimmy Kimmel's show last week that Naomi was going to be on playing a softball game between MODE and ELLE magazines. I guess I figured it out! Okay, I feel better.

I heard that "Iron Man" made a ton of money this weekend- they speculate $100 million in the U.S., and another $200 million from the rest of the world. That's got to be the best weekend for a film, ever, most likely. Jeesh. And, they say, this is the first film for the company "Marvel Studios". Good for them.

Okay, enough for me tonight. Good night from Hollywood!

Would you follow Britney Spears around town?

Britney Spears likes attention. Lots of it- she's actually responsible for the paparazzi following her everywhere- she likes it, and she tips them off. That's what I learned on ABC TV's "Nightline" news program.

If you were visiting Los Angeles and saw Britney drive by with some paparazzi, would you try to follow her? If so, why? Because she's beautiful? Because she's famous? Just to have a story when you go back home to Texas or Michigan? Personally, although I would look at her if she walked or drove by, I definitely would not make an attempt to follow her. I get enough of her on television and on the magazine covers that I see when I'm in line at the grocery store.

Universal Studios Hollywood is Fun!

If you are ever in Los Angeles, California, one thing to do that's fun is to visit Universal Studios Hollywood. It's located right off the 101 freeway.

Universal Studios has Citywalk, which is sort of an outdoor mall. It's really decorated and fancy on the outside. There are interesting fountains to be found along the walkway. Fancy shops and restaurants abound in this outdoor bonanza. Do you like Dodger Dogs? Well, you don't have to go all the way to Dodger Stadium for them- there's a Dodger Dogs joint right upstairs in City Loft. Also at Citywalk is a Lowe's Movie Theater, and an IMAX Theater.

Next to Citywalk is the Universal Studios Theme Park. I love to go up there sometimes and ride a couple of rides. The Shrek attraction is one of my favorites. The Mummy rollercoaster is a lot of fun. Jurassic Park is really cool if you want to get wet. That drop at the end really does it for your stomach! The dinosaurs can be scary, too. Of course, my favorite thing at the Park, though, is the Tram Tour. It takes you all over the historical movie studio lot, and provides a good show to keep you entertained throughout. If you have ever visited Universal Studios Florida, just know that the Tram Tour in Hollywood is something that they don't have in Orlando.

Other must-see attractions are: Backdraft, Waterworld, and the Tribute to "I Love Lucy". But I really must emphasize that you must go on the Tram Tour!

My favorite place to eat at Universal Studios is Doc Brown's Fried Chicken. It's not always open, and they close early sometimes, but it's my favorite food there.

Hillary and Obama in Hollywood

Yesterday was an exciting day in Hollywood, California. At the Kodak Theater on Hollywood Blvd., Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama showed why either one of them will most likely be the next President of the United States. It was a great debate. They didn't really fight with each other this time- they were remarkably friendly to each other, but each deftly tried to convey that each wants to be the next President. Hollywood Boulevard was closed off between Highland Avenue and La Brea Avenue.

There were a lot of celebrities in the audience to listen to the candidates. Rob Reiner, Steven Spielberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Antonio Villaraigosa were in attendance, among other luminaries. The Hillary and Obama groupies were also outside the theater, cheering their heroes at the very building that hosts the Oscars.

See "Wicked" at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood

"Wicked", the Broadway smash, is showing at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. I haven't seen it yet, but I cannot wait to see it! I'm going to set a goal of March this year to see it. As you may know, this show is based upon the "Wizard of Oz" witches. It's such a phenomenon that this show was actually featured in an episode of "Ugly Betty" this season.

The Pantages Theater is located at 6233 Hollywood Blvd. , Los Angeles, CA 90028, near Vine St.
